Barrow was also the home of soft-drink business Marsh's, which made a distinctive sarsaparilla-flavoured fizzy drink called Sass.[183] Marsh's was acquired by Purity Smooth Beverages of Birmingham in 1993, and the corporate stopped manufacturing Sass in 1999. Remaining bottles have subsequently marketed for prime charges for a collector's item.[184
